In the sprawling landscape of Golden Era hip-hop, certain tracks stand as not just memorable tunes, but cultural touchstones. Master Ace’s “Me and the Biz,” released in 1990 from his debut album Take a Look Around, is undoubtedly one of those tracks. More than just a boastful rhyme, “Me and the Biz” offers a fascinating glimpse into the mindset of a young, talented artist navigating the complex world of the music industry, while simultaneously cementing its place as a textbook example of skillful storytelling in hip-hop.

WOW 313
I used 2 beat this in the whip💯
Some excellent advice!
Quik is highly underrated. He does everything Dr. Dre does only much better at every one of those things.
Murder was the case and above the rim were on repeat in my truck CONSTANTLY
@@ragnarlothbrook4652 soundtrack to our youth.
This is one of the harder tracks on the whole album. I said this back in '94, I'm saying this again in '25. Sam (if I'm not mistaken) is originally from back east. So you had Dre on the production and Sam on the vocals. It was, in my opinion, a nice east/west collab. I was looking forward to hearing more from Sam but unfortunately never got that. I still bump Better Recognize to this day.
The beat was made by Sam Sneed too... It's like Scott Storch kind of deal.
@ufkrec that's crazy, I didn't know that.
🤓
I noticed you also have a Korg Triton le in the background. That has some great sounds ( I have one), the only bad thing about it is the light keyboard action. I also have a Korg MS2000, Roland Gaia, EMU proteus fx, Alesis SR16 and Novation Circuit.
10-12 songs. with a good intro and outro maybe an interlude or 2. Most people don't like interludes, and I didn't care for them much growing up. I've learned to appreciate a good interlude when placed right , they can help the theme and pacing of the album. If you're not sequencing the songs to be played like that, then why even put out an album? Just release songs when you make them. Are albums even necessary nowdays? That's the real question. Are they just playlists?
Foxy brown is gorgeous 😍 ❤❤
❤
That Pete Rock Remix 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Greak work sir!

Some excellent advice! This is a must watch for up and coming artists as these sorts of scams are rife.

I wish they would come out with something new, among these newer artists that think they are doing something new
Is it worth using for distrubution? This video told me nothing tbh.
Thank for the vid , i loved this song, still do , it used to come on 93 fm in Cleveland on the Saturday night mix shows♥️
I brought it on cassette, absolutely loved it from the get go.
Rap ALOT, Scarface, #Ghettoboys #Legends .
I need to make a correction. DJ Ready Red is the main producer of this song!
Hello, You definitely left out the main producer on thos album, my brother, DJ Ready Red. Red and Doug King were the only producers at that time. Nothing on this album was done by Scarface and Bido would become Doug King's assistant but I don't believe he came until the next album.
I appreciate the correction!
You completely forgot about Collins Leysath aka DJ Ready Red who produced and contributed a majority of the Geto Boys music from 1986 to 1990. Know the history before you start giving credit to people. Ready Red was the DJ and producer back then.
You are absolutely correct.
i dont check if its legit
Probably produced by Large Professor
Peace! Definitely one of the more sophisticated songs in the God's catalog. This was the "I Need Love" for the early 90's complete with pop references relevant at the time. Peace!!
Classic for sure

I do think it was the most important Hip Hop song in the mid/late 80's. I remember taping it off pirate radio in he uk and when the 12" dropped I bought it that day and played it on loop for weeks! Then when PE hit the Hammersmith Odean a bit later for that legendary gig (sampled on It takes a nation) I was there, and Rebel was the stand out moment. Still one of the best gigs I've been too.
This was definitely a sonic boom signaling a change in hip hop at the time.
